Who are the DVLA?

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is a Government organisation in Great Britain responsible for:

  • Registering all vehicles
  • Issuing driving licences
  • Maintaining a database of all drivers and vehicles

Ensuring vehicle owners pay road tax or Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) As a result, the DVLA manages an extensive collection of driver and vehicle data. Total Car Check has access to this data, including records of vehicles’ registered keepers. A keeper is the individual who possesses and operates the vehicle. They are identified as the registered owner on the pink V5C registration certificate issued by the DVLA.

Your Questions Answered

We can provide a report for a vehicle a few weeks after it has been registered, re-registered, or had a plate change. This is because the DVLA supplies these records only once a month.
